E-Comm 9-1-1 reveals annual worst calls of 2024 list

Whether it was calls that needed to be rerouted elsewhere, or ones that didn’t warrant a call at all, the annual worst calls list from E-Comm 9-1-1 didn’t disappoint.

The annual list shows the most unusual calls of the year to help highlight the importance of keeping emergency lines open for emergencies only.

E-Comm call taker Laura said every second they spend taking a call on a non-emergency is time they could be using to help in a life-threatening emergency.

“We understand that some of these situations might feel urgent to the individual in the moment, but 9-1-1 is not the appropriate number to call if your power goes out or you require tech support.”

The top 10 list went as follows:

  1. Their neighbour was wearing too much cologne
  2. The dry cleaners stained their shirt
  3. McDonald’s wouldn’t open their doors
  4. They wanted directions to a 24/7 Shoppers Drug Mart
  5. Complaining the power was out
  6. Requesting technical support
  7. The box of 38 avocados they purchased were rotten
  8. They left their phone in an Uber
  9. Requesting help removing a wasp nest
  10. There was a domesticated-looking bunny in the park

9-1-1 is asking people to keep their lines open for emergencies only that require immediate action, whether someone’s health, safety, or property is in jeopardy, or they are witnessing a crime.
