Wounded Warrior Vancouver Island events start Saturday

The Wounded Warrior Run for Vancouver Island starts its annual campaign on Saturday, with a gala dinner in Victoria.

Later on Sunday, the campaign will hold a one-day run to kick off the drive for donations. Runners will go from Sooke to Sidney. For the rest of the month, they will be preparing for the grueling trek from Port Hardy to Victoria.

For eight days, eight runners will head south, covering 800 kilometres. Their goal is to raise money to help military personnel, police, and emergency service workers struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. It also helps their families.

The run starts on February 23.

All money raised by the run stays on Vancouver Island.
