RCMP seize significant amounts of drugs and cash in traffic stop

An RCMP traffic stop in Langford has turned up a significant quantity of drugs, cash which has led to two arrests.

A truck was stopped by West Shore RCMP on Jan. 28 during what police are calling a routine traffic stop and has led to both occupants now facing several charges including possession of a controlled substance.

According to a media release, the truck contained approximately 32 grams of fentanyl, 100 millilitres of liquid suspected to be gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), 10 grams of methamphetamine, 29 grams of suspected cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia. They also seized more than $2,000 in cash.

Police say evidence in the vehicle led them to get a search warrant for the residence of one of the occupants where they were able to locate more drugs and trafficking equipment.

They say approximately another 31 grams of fentanyl were seized along with 1.5 litres of GHB, 39 grams of methamphetamine, prescription bottles, 600 pills presumed to be dilaudid, and 21 grams of psilocybin.

Both suspects were taken into police custody, and RCMP say they were released with undertakings by the court.

West Shore RCMP say the investigation is still open, and no further information will be released.
