Island and Coast to get strong winds starting tonight

Tonight looks to be very windy as strong winds are coming for the Island and Coast.

Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued two wind warnings, saying strong winds of 70 kilometers an hour will gust up to 90 kilometers.

The winds come because of a low-pressure Centre approaching Vancouver Island, affecting the eastern section from Nanoose Bay to Campbell River, the Sunshine Coast from Saltery Bay to Powell River, and Greater Victoria, including the Malahat area.

The weather agency says winds could damage roof shingles and windows, break off tree branches, cut off power, and cause injury or damage by loose objects being tossed.

The winds are set to start this evening and Wednesday morning. They are expected to die down by late Wednesday afternoon.
