Negotiators for bus drivers on strike in the Cowichan Valley and Transdev Canada are scheduled to meet next week.
A spokesperson for Local 114 says one day of negotiations is planned for Thursday, February 27th, nearly two weeks after job action began.
Forty-four bus drivers and maintenance workers represented by Unifor Local 114, and eight handyDART operators in Local 333 went on strike February 8th, shutting down service throughout the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System.
According to Unifor, the outstanding issues include wages, pensions and working conditions, particularly surrounding breaks and appropriate washroom facilities for operators.
The express services from Duncan to Victoria and from Shawnigan Lake to Victoria were both affected, but the NCX 70 Nanaimo to Cowichan Express was not.
Service for handyDART users with appointments related to renal dialysis, cancer treatment and multiple sclerosis was deemed essential, but other pre-booked trips were cancelled.
BC Transit is responsible for transit services outside of Greater Vancouver and has contracts with private operating companies to deliver transit services.
