Ladysmith man arrested in connection to theft at pharmacy

Police say a 39-year-old Ladysmith man has been arrested following an incident at a Chemainus pharmacy on Tuesday morning.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Cpl. Krista Hobday says a bottle of methadone was stolen from the Rexall Drug store just after 8am after a man, wearing a mask, jumped over the counter.

She says the suspect ran towards Waterwheel Park after leaving the store, however, employees were able to provide police with some handy information.

Hobday says they were eventually able to figure out the suspect’s address and were able to nab him thanks to some help from Ladysmith RCMP.

She says the pharmacy estimates that about a thousand dollars in damage occurred as a result of the incident.
