Several fire departments were called to deal with a fire south of Duncan earlier this afternoon.

Emergency crews, including North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, Shawnigan Lake, and Mill Bay Fire Department turned after a fire broke out on a farm less than a kilometre from the Trans-Canada Highway.

There has been no word on the cause of the barn fire that closed off the intersection at Staghorn and Bench Road, and no word if the barn was vacant at the time.
