Routley slams provincial government over latest privacy breach

The MLA for Nanaimo North Cowichan says it’s disheartening to see the provincial government continue to mishandle people’s vital personal information.

Doug Routley, who is also the NDP critic for Citizens Services, says the Clark government has lost an unencrypted hard drive with BC student information.

He says if the province took recommendations seriously after previous incidents then possibly the biggest loss of privacy date in BC’s history could have been avoided.

The Office of the information and Privacy Commissioner will be investigating the privacy breach.
