New Mayor of Ladysmith sworn-in

Deena Beeston was officially sworn-in as Ladysmith’s mayor at a ceremony held during the Inaugural Meeting of Council on Tuesday.

Beeston is the 23rd mayor in the town’s history, and the second woman to hold the position.

She says it’s an honour and a privilege to serve as mayor and will work to build a future that reflects the town’s shared values and aspirations.

During Tuesday’s council meeting Beeston was appointed Ladysmith’s Director on the Cowichan Valley Regional District board of directors for 2025.

Tricia McKay, who had been appointed acting mayor following Aaron Stone’s departure last autumn, will resume her duties as councillor.
