North Cowichan wins another Climate & Energy Action Award at UBCM convention

North Cowichan has been awarded for taking the lead on climate action in the province.

The municipality recently received a Climate & Energy Action Award from the Minister of Environment, Mary Polak, at the UBCM convention in Vancouver.

Mayor Jon Lefebure says North Cowichan won in the Community Planning and Development category for the University Village Local Area Plan.

Lefebure says the plan will create a community that will use less energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. North Cowichan won the same award a couple of years ago for its Climate Action and Energy Plan.
