People want a liberal government, party candidate Blair Herbert

Liberal candidate Blair Herbert is running again for MP in the riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford because he says the riding needs a relatable representative.

Herbert ran in the past two elections for the liberal party under former Prime Minster Justin Trudeau, and he says tackling the big issues in the riding is what he’s focused on during his campaign.

Herbert says although the area has been NDP in the past two elections residents are looking for change, and that’s what gives him an advantage over the rest of the candidates.

“I think people want to elect a liberal government this time to deal with Mr. Trump,” he says. “We need someone in place who is strong, and Mark Carney is the most qualified person I’ve seen in my lifetime that is going to be in a position of a Prime Minister.”

Herbert says politics aside; he just wants to run in the election to bring what’s best for the people of the riding to Ottawa and fight for what’s right.

“I am just an ordinary person who just happens to live in the Cowichan Valley,” he says. “I don’t have crazy views on anything, I’m a middle of the road voter and that’s what I am representing here.”

Herbert ran in 2019 and in 2021 when he lost to NDP candidate Alistair MacGregor getting 15.7 per cent of the vote in 202.

Other candidates in the riding include incumbent MacGregor, Conservative Party of Canada candidate Jeffery Kibble, Green Party candidate Kathleen Code, People’s Party candidate Dagmar Goeschick.
