Ladysmith mayor, province talk derelict vessels

The mayor of Ladysmith says recent talks with the province about derelict vessels were encouraging.

Aaron Stone says he and a few other island politicians had a chance to sit down with the Minister of Environment at the UBCM convention.

He says that Mary Polak told them they would work together on the issue, along with the Ministry of Forrest, Land and Natural Resource and the Ministry of Transportation.

Stone says the province will be getting in contact with the Feds to see what can be done about derelicts in harbours.

He says no further meetings have been set yet, however, he is hoping to follow up with the ministries soon.
