Cowichan Valley’s first ‘elder care co-op’ gets big financial boost

The Cowichan Valley’s first “elder care co-op” is launching a big recruiting drive, after getting a major contribution from the Coastal Community Credit Union.

The Cowichan Elder Care Co-operative is designed to help seniors continue living in their own homes, by connecting them with professional services and volunteers.

Roger Hart is the Chair of the new co-op.  He says they’re using a different model than agencies that depend only on external funding.

Hart says the Elder Care Co-op will be moving into offices at Providence Farm and start offering services in November.

He says the $10,000 from the Credit Union will help pay for the marketing and outreach leading up to the launch.
