York Road fire under investigation

The North Cowichan Fire Department is investigating a blaze on the weekend that damaged a house on York Road.

Deputy Fire Chief Chris Jancowski says they received a call about a fire in the 5800 block of York Road at about 10pm on Sunday night.

He says firefighters were able to quickly bring it under control, but there is substantial damage to the structure.

He says the investigation is ongoing and the cause has yet to be determined.
