Salt Spring woman facing animal cruelty charges after cat found in critical distress

A Salt Spring Island woman is facing animal cruelty charges after a 20-year-old cat was found in critical distress.

The BC SPCA says a neighbour had to rush the cat, which goes by the name Charlie, to the vet where he was found to be dehydrated, emaciated, suffering from an eye infection and had fleas.

They say Dana Pennington has been charged under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. She will make her first court appearance on Nov. 9 at the Ganges Courthouse.
