BC Coroners Service IDs woman killed in car crash in Cedar

The BC Coroners Service has identified the woman that died in a car accident in Cedar on Tuesday night.

51-year-old Heidi Barbara Plato of Ladysmith was badly injured when the pick-up truck she was driving was involved in a head-on crash with another pick-up on Yellow Point Rd. south of Nanaimo at about 7:15 pm.

Authorities say she died after being taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

They also say the 39-year-old driver of the other pick-up is facing charges after refusing to give a blood sample and leaving the scene of an accident. Police say more charges could be coming…

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate.
