1 person found dead after house fire on Gabriola

Gabriola and Island District RCMP are investigating after a body was found following an early-morning house fire.

The Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department was called to a home in the 800 block of Keith Drive at 5:30am on Monday, November 16.

When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Upon further examination, fire crews found a body inside. The BC Coroners Service has been notified, and it working to determine a cause of death. No other details about the victim are being released at this point.

The RCMP are working to determine the cause of the fire, and whether or not it’s suspicious.
