Police find body after canoe capsizes on Chemainus Lake
The search for a 22-year-old Nanaimo man who went missing after a canoe capsized during a fishing trip on Chemainus Lake is over.
Police say a dive team pulled a body out of the lake just before 4pm on Wednesday afternoon after two men ended up in the water just before 10:30am on that day.
Police say one of them, also 22-years-old and from Nanaimo, made it to shore and was treated by paramedics. They say the other one wasn’t seen for hours following the accident.
Cowichan Valley Search and Rescue, an RCMP dive team, BC Ambulance Service and Cowichan Valley Victim Services helped out with the search.
