Chemainus Lake drowning victim identified as 22 y/o Nanaimo man

The BC Coroners Service has released the name of a man who died
after a boating accident on Chemainus Lake on November 25.

22-year-old Brayden Edward Gale from Nanaimo was fishing with a friend when their canoe capsized. Neither of the men were wearing life jackets.

Gale’s friend was able to swim to a nearby dock but Gale disappeared. His body was recovered five hours later by the RCMP dive team.

The BC Coroners Service and the RCMP are still investigating.
