VIU presents balanced budget

Vancouver Island University’s Board of Governors has approved the University’s budget for the 2014/15 fiscal year.

Dan Hurley, Executive Director, Community Relations says it includes a 2 per cent tuition increase.

To boost the income side of the ledger, Hurley says the University is really going to focus on getting more international students…

The one hundred 34 million dollar budget includes some improvements to the information technology infrastructure at the University campuses as well.

However, Hurley says there won’t be much changing at the campuses in the Cowichan because the one in Duncan is still considered state of the art as it just opened in 2011 and the Trades Centre in the old Koksilah School is also a recent addition for the University.
