NDP MPs want BC Ferries to be able to access federal infrastructure funding

New Democrat MPs from Vancouver Island and the North Coast are asking the Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities to let BC Ferries to access grants under the New Building Canada Fund.

Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Sheila Malcolmson says she and six of her colleagues spent the last week writing a letter with their request.

Malcolmson says they’ll be reminding Liberal MPs from coastal ridings, like Pam Goldsmith-Jones of West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast, just how good this would be for coastal communities.

She says taking some financial pressure off people who rely on BC Ferries will benefit the coastal economy in many ways.
