The construction of a new skate park in Chemainus could begin in late September or early October.
The mayor of North Cowichan, Jon Lefebure, says the site of the skate park strongly appears like it will be the former Chemainus Elementary School.
He adds the future of the park will be addressed in detail next week.
Lefebure says they choose the former school site out of 11 potential locations because it is easily accessible, is very visible by the community and appropriate for what the area would function as.
