Community support rallies around Isherwood Autobody after devastating fire

Isherwood Autobody Shop’s owner says they will continue to operate despite a fire that destroyed one of their buildings on Boys Road last week in Duncan.

The fire gutted one of several buildings at the location, followed by several smaller fires that occurred from fires that weren’t extinguished the night before.

Ryan Isherwood says although the damage was significant, as was the loss, they’re still open for business and pushing through the setback.

“We still have a functioning spray booth, but we lost our main spray booth and half our body base,” he says. “We also lost our technician’s tools, but these guys are pitching in and jumped into action.

“Within a couple of days, we were painting cars again.”

Isherwood says suppliers stepped in to help his company get operational at the last moment with supplies, stock and all the equipment needed to carry the business forward after the fire.

He adds the support from the public has been overwhelming and emotional at times.

“The community has just bound behind us,” he says. “The compassion everyone has shown us has been amazing, it highlights how important it is to be a part of this community.”

There’s no indication when the shop will be back to full operating capacity, but Isherwood says he will provide an update as soon as he knows.
