The CVRD is reminding community members that Island Savings had no input in the decision to remove the large maple tree on James Street in Duncan.
Community Services Manager John Elzinga says staff at the credit union have been getting an earful about the decision.
Elzinga says Island Savings provides financial support to the community centre, but is not involved in operating decisions.
