One man charged in connection with death on Ditidaht First Nation

A murder charge has been laid in connection with a death on the Ditidaht First Nation on the weekend.
 
The Lake Cowichan RCMP was called to the First Nation Saturday morning and found a body at a residence.
 
The Emergency Response Team was called and arrested a suspect while the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit began its investigation.
 
On Sunday, Derian Tate was charged with First-Degree Murder and will make a court appearance on October 8, 2024.
 
The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
