Town of Ladysmith offers new engagement tool

Ladysmith residents will now have a new way to express concerns, provide input and offer feedback on town projects and initiatives more efficiently.

According to the town, a new platform called ‘Let’s Talk Ladysmith’ will feature several pages where residents can stay informed on what is happening locally, and they’ll be able to engage with staff through polls and other engagement tools.

Acting mayor Tricia McKay says it’s important to have community engagement when council and staff decide to implement new projects, and this portal is just one way that local government is listening to their residents.

“We believe it’s important for all residents of Ladysmith to have the opportunity to share their feedback on town projects and initiatives that impact the community,” she says. “Let’s Talk Ladysmith is an accessible and user-friendly public engagement tool that empowers residents to voice their opinions and be an active part of shaping the future of our town.”

According to a media release, the first project residents will get to provide feedback on is a new skatepark, and a short survey can be found on the town’s website.

Communication and engagement specialist Nicholas Pescod says the platform is trusted by hundreds of municipalities and it will be a great asset going forward.

“Bang the Table is an innovative public engagement platform that is trusted by hundreds of local governments around the world,” he says. “It will greatly benefit the residents of Ladysmith.”

Locally, the platform is already being used in Nanaimo, Victoria, North Cowichan and the City of Duncan.
