Updated: RCMP looking to the public to help locate a missing 49-year-old

Update as of Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m.: RCMP have located Hounsell’s body, and say the cause of death isn’t suspicious. The BC Coroners Service is currently investigating.

Lake Cowichan RCMP say they’re looking for a 49-year-old after his vehicle was spotted an hour from Bamfield Road.

Police say Michael Hounsell was reported missing on Oct. 29 and is known for spending time in the wilderness.

Hounsell was last seen in February, and according to his family being out of contact for any duration of time is completely out of character for him.

He is described as a Caucasian man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and 141 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
