BC Parks to open reservations for May long weekend this week

Despite being in the middle of the winter, BC Parks is getting ready for people to enjoy the spring camping season.

With May long weekend now four months away, reservations will begin to be accepted at BC Parks for the campgrounds that do accept them.

60 campsites have been added to the reservation service across the province with 13 of them on Vancouver Island at China Beach Campground in Juan de Fuca.

Two accessible showers and flush toilets are being installed at China Beach with those expected to open sometime in May.

It follows a $2.7 million upgrade last spring which saw 33 additional campsites added.

China Beach Campground reservations will open at a later, unspecified date.

Due to recent storms, BC Parks is working to restore some of the infrastructure in the parks which suffered damage from them.
