North Cowichan, Coastal Fire Centre lift campfire bans

The Municipality of North Cowichan and the Coastal Fire Centre in Parksville are lifting campfires bans on Thursday.

North Cowichan says the ban on Category-1 and Category-2 fires will end on September 25, 2025, at noon.

Category-1 fires are campfires, and Category-2 fires are one to two burning piles that are no more than 2 metres high by 3 metres wide.

For more information, visit the North Cowichan website.

The BC Wildfire Service Coastal Fire Centre has also announced the Category-1 (campfire) and Category-2 (backyard burning) prohibitions for the South Coast will be rescinded in all areas as of noon on Thursday.

Earlier this month, the campfire prohibition was lifted in the Campbell River Forest District, the North Island and Central Coast Forest District, and the Sunshine Coast Forest District.
