Fog advisory active for Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast into Thursday morning

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for a large portion of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

The advisory spans from the Cowichan Valley to Campbell River on Vancouver Island and from Powell River to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.

The advisory is in effect as a ridge of high pressure settles over the region, creating conditions favourable for dense fog.

Environment Canada said conditions are expected to improve by Thursday morning.

The agency warned that travel could be hazardous in some areas as near-zero visibility may occur in some locations.
