Ladysmith group unable to administer provincial grant

The Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA) said it was unable to administer a Civil Forfeiture Grant recently awarded by the province.

An LRCA spokesperson said the organization was honoured to be selected as a recipient of the $40,000 grant. However, following the closure of its Restorative Justice Program, the association was no longer in a position to deliver restorative justice services under the terms of the original grant application.

As a result, the LRCA did not use the funding.

Restorative justice services remain available in the community through Community Circles Restorative Justice, which has assumed responsibility for delivering the program in the area. The LRCA said it continues to provide space for interviews and meetings while Community Circles connects participants with support services.

– Correction: A previous version of this article stated Ladysmith Resources Centre Association had administered funds through the province’s Civil Forfeiture Grant
