Province commits $2 million to help expand Chemainus wood manufacturing facility

The provincial government is providing up to $2 million to support an expansion at a Chemainus wood products manufacturer.

The Ron Anderson and Sons facility expansion is expected to create 35 new jobs and increase production of prefabricated wood building components.

“The BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund is helping Ron Anderson and Sons accelerate our growth in Chemainus by expanding our manufacturing capacity, investing in advanced automation and creating new skilled jobs on Vancouver Island,” said Jack Downing, president and CEO of Ron Anderson and Sons. “This funding supports our vision of delivering high-quality prefabricated construction solutions more efficiently, while strengthening the local economy and helping address British Columbia’s housing needs.”

The company has broken ground on the expansion, which will diversify its product offerings. The facility will manufacture prefabricated floors, roof panels and stairs, adding to its prefabricated wall systems.

“With the U.S. administration targeting our manufacturing industries, businesses and jobs, it has never been more important to help local businesses like Ron Anderson and Sons sell more of what they make here at home,” said Adrian Dix, acting minister of jobs and economic growth.

The expansion is expected to be complete in February 2027.
