Cowichan Spirit of Volunteering

The Cowichan Seniors Community Foundation is hosting Cowichan Spirit of Volunteering on Friday, October 13.
The volunteer’s conference goes at the Ramada Inn Conference Centre in Duncan and connects not-for-profit organizations with those people who want to lend their time and energy to various causes.
Vicki Holman is the Executive Director of the Cowichan Seniors Community Foundation.

Holman says volunteers are a special group of people.

More than 20 not-for-profit organizations will be on hand and the conference includes a presentation by Isobel Mackenzie of the B.C. Seniors Advocate.

Holman says volunteers offered more than two thousand rides to seniors who needed help getting to their medical appointments last year.
In the process, these volunteers logged 28 thousand kilometres.
