Duncan city council has approved the city’s 2026 tourism budget, which includes new highway signage aimed at helping visitors find the downtown core.
Council approved the $26,000 tourism operating budget at its March 9 meeting, following recommendations from the city’s tourism advisory committee.
Part of the plan includes installing two new wayfinding signs on the Trans-Canada Highway.
One sign will replace the existing north-end gateway sign near Sherman Road, while the other will be installed near Beverly Street to direct travellers into Duncan.
Council also approved setting aside $9,000 to support visitor information services provided through the Cowichan Valley Museum during the summer.
City officials said the tourism initiatives support Duncan’s goal of strengthening the local economy and attracting more visitors to the community.
