The Town of Lake Cowichan is celebrating the completion of two community-focused projects.
The town said its Cowichan River access staircase at Central Park is now open for use.
It provides safe access and egress to a popular summer recreation site and was completed at a cost of just over $7,500.
The town has also taken delivery of a new fire truck.
It cost $757,103, below its budget of $760,000.
“The new apparatus significantly enhances emergency response capabilities with a 2,000-gallon water tank, foam suppression capability, and pump-and-roll functionality,” said the town in a statement.
The fire truck has been commissioned and is ready to serve the community.
