Ladysmith employee union ratifies new contract

The Town of Ladysmith and the Canadian Union of Public Employees have ratified a new four-year collective agreement.

The agreement is retroactive to the beginning of the year and provides general wage increases of four per cent in the first year, five per cent in each of the next two years and four per cent in the final year, 2029.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to providing fair and competitive compensation for our dedicated employees while maintaining fiscal responsibility on behalf of Ladysmith taxpayers,” said Trish McConnell, the town’s manager of human resources. “We appreciate the collaborative and respectful approach taken by both bargaining teams throughout negotiations, which enabled us to reach a mutually beneficial outcome.”
