The Cowichan Valley Regional District says Stoney Hill Regional Park will remain closed for at least the next few days following a bear attack Friday, Aug. 14.
The CVRD provided the update Monday morning and says its next update will be Wednesday, Aug. 19. The public is being asked to stay away from the park for safety.
The park was closed after a woman and her dog were attacked by a sow and cub Friday morning. The B.C. Conservation Officer Service said the woman was injured and the dog survived.
Conservation officers said the attack was defensive in nature and no further efforts would be made to locate or capture the bears.
The park has been closed since Friday’s incident.
