Nurse from Duncan disciplined by College of Nurses and Midwives

The BC College of Nurses and Midwives has given a temporary suspension to a licensed practical nurse from Duncan.

The BCCNM posted a notice on its website that a panel of the Inquiry Committee approved a consent agreement between the college and Lindsey Rints to address unauthorized access and disclosure of patient health information in October of 2022.

Rints’ nursing registration has been suspended for eight months, she was reprimanded, must undergo remedial education in ethics, privacy and boundaries, and is to meet with a BCCNM Standards and Guidance Consultant.

The BC College of Nurses and Midwives says nurses are only permitted to access personal and health information for purposes that are consistent with their professional responsibilities.

They are not permitted to access the health records of patients who are not in their care.

Nurses may only disclose personal and health information as required to meet their professional responsibilities, or as required under the law.
