Maple Bay Community Association preparing for annual Canada Day event

Canada Day celebrations are just a few weeks away, and a Cowichan Valley tradition is returning to mark the country’s 159th birthday.

The Maple Bay Community Association is holding its annual celebration on July 1, which will include a parade, live music, food and community activities.

The celebration begins at Andy Hutchins Park at 9:30 a.m. before the parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Participants will include bagpipers, costumed marchers, firefighters and members of the community.

The association is encouraging attendees to dress up, with prizes to be awarded for the best costumes.

There will also be opportunities to join both the Maple Bay Community Association and the Maple Bay Rowing Club. Representatives from both organizations will be on hand to assist with registration.
