The Municipality of North Cowichan is increasing its efforts to conserve water and says all residents should observe Stage 2 restrictions.
Effective June 23, the municipality will increase water conservation measures after the province raised drought levels for east Vancouver Island.
During Stage 2 restrictions, the municipality asks that conventional sprinkling and micro- or drip irrigation be limited to two hours on one day a week and that car washing only be done under certain conditions.
Watering should be done in the evening, overnight and early morning hours to reduce evaporation. The municipality says no watering is permitted between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
