Road work is underway at the intersection of Sherman and Lane roads in North Cowichan.
The municipality is installing an all-way stop to help reduce speeding and improve safety.
The work includes narrowing travel lanes, removing separate turn lanes, improving pedestrian safety and realigning the Lane Road intersection.
“The work will take approximately two weeks to complete, and will be performed outside of the peak periods of traffic and in the evening to minimize traffic disruptions,” said the municipality. “Once work is complete, traffic on Sherman Road will need to stop under the new all-way stop control which will likely result in minor queueing and short delays during peak periods of traffic.”
The all-way stop is an interim measure. North Cowichan said traffic signals are planned for the intersection in the future.
