Coastal zone quieter than usual in hot BC wildfire season

BC is on track to set a new record for the amount of forest lost to wildfires
More than 330,000 hectares have burned since April; around 7-thousand shy of the record set in 2010.
Marg Drysdale is a fire information officer with the Coastal Fire Centre. She says our region has actually had a quieter season than the rest of BC.
The Wildfire Management Branch has also been getting help from further afield.  Crews from other provinces, Australia and Alaska have come in.  Another 85 firefighters from Ontario are arriving today.
The largest fire in this region is the 165 hectare Nimpkish fire on the North Island. It’s been burning for just over a month.
