Oil spill simulation cards could be landing on area beaches

The Nanaimo-based Georgia Strait Alliance is asking people to keep an eye out for special cards on area beaches.
The cards were dropped into Burrard Inlet last week as part of a joint project with the City of Vancouver, and the Raincoast Conservation Foundation.  The idea is to simulate an oil spill from Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline or the marine shipping route.
Christianne Wilhelmson is the Executive Director of the Alliance
Whilhelmson says the idea is to do “card drops” at various times of the year and under different weather conditions.  Past drops have seen the cards wash ashore in the Gulf Islands, mid Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
