Political analyst says Liberals willing to weather lengthy dispute with BCTF

Teachers will vote Wednesday on lifting their strike.
BC Teachers Federation president Jim Iker says they’re doing it to try to get the government to agree to binding arbitration.
But, Education Minister Peter Fassbender remains steadfastly against the idea.
Political analyst Alan Warnke is keeping close tabs on the strike.
The retired VIU prof has watched several BCTF – government showdowns over his career, and he says this is one of the most political.
Warnke says, for now at least, the Liberals seem convinced it’s a political battle they can win..
Warnke also says the NDP hasn’t been as vocal as he’d expected, although they have recently been calling for the education minister’s resignation.
Warnke is predicting it could be weeks, not days, before there’s a resolution.
