Women Against Violence Society welcomes federal announcement

The federal government is promising funding to help end violence against women and girls, and the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society is hoping to get some of that money

The Minister for the Status of Women says they’re accepting proposals for projects with a focus on community partnerships.

Jane Sterk, Executive Director of the Society, says they have a program that should fit the criteria and they’ll be applying for funding. She says the money is definitely needed.

Sterk says she’s glad to see the government is also investing $157,000 in a two-year project by the Ending Violence Association of BC to better support women and girls who have experienced sexual violence.
