Nurses complaining of impossible work loads

49,000 nursing hours have been lost at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital since the new care model was implemented.
That’s according to the BC nurses Union.
Members will be at the Island Health board meeting today (Thurs) in Parksville to demand the Board wake up and pay attention to the voices of patients and nurses from the Nanaimo Hospital.
The union says patient care is suffering and nurses, who face impossible workloads are quitting and since the new care model took effect eight months ago, five experienced nurses have quit the cardiac unit.
