Boat rescue near Nanaimo

One person was airlifted to hospital yesterday afternoon after Nanaimo Fire Rescue Crews responded to a possible drowning at Westwood Lake.

One other person was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Assistant Chief Greg Norman says the pair were in an aluminum fishing boat that capsized around 3pm.

Norman says the person airlifted to hospital was unconscious, the other person was fully responsive.
