Several Cowichan Non-Profits In Race for Island Savings Grant

Several Cowichan Valley non-profits are in the running for a 50 thousand dollar grant from Island Savings, as a celebration of Canada’s 150th.
Nourish Cowichan is one of these. The Society is a school-based breakfast program, and is currently operating in five local schools.
President Fatima Da Silva says with all the community support, they have been growing quickly – and now they are facing some logistics issues.
Da Silva says they would use the grant money to upgrade a commercial kitchen space to allow for the expansion of their program, or build a kitchen from scratch if need be.
Voting is open until June 23. The top 10 organizations that receive the most votes will be reviewed by a First West selection committee. Vote at the Island Savings Community Grant website.
