Seismic upgrades and new schools on the horizon
The Province says it will work with Seismic Mitigation Program experts to look for ways to more efficiently and cost-effectively meet the building code for seismic safety when it comes to schools in B.C.
The premier has announced two new schools will be built in Vancouver to replace two that were on the high risk list for collapse or damage in the event of an earthquake.
John Horgan says there is an aggressive capital plan in place over the next three years for investments in schools….
There are still more than 150 schools on the list in the province that are at a high risk of damage or collapse in the event of an earthquake.
The list includes Cowichan Secondary and the Cowichan Trades Centre, which was formerly Koksilah Elementary.
