The MLA for Cowichan Valley is using his response to this week’s Throne Speech to raise the issue of a permit for a contaminated soil dump near Shawnigan Lake.
The permit was appealed months ago but a decision is still pending.
Bill Routley told the Legislature on Thursday, that flies in the face of a Throne Speech promise of world leading environmental protection standards.
Routley also says the need to issue a health advisory about swimming in the Cowichan River last summer is another sign the Liberal government is dropping the ball on the environment.
